This past weekend, downtown Marietta transformed into a colorful masterpiece as Chalktoberfest 2025 filled the Marietta Square with stunning chalk art, live music, craft beer, food trucks, and a strong sense of local pride. The two-day event brought together professional artists, families, and visitors from across Georgia (GA) to celebrate creativity and community under a clear October sky.
Hosted by the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art and sponsored by this nonprofit organization, Chalktoberfest has grown into one of the most popular fall events in Cobb County. It combines the excitement of a street art festival with the flavor of a craft beer celebration turning city streets into a living art gallery for one weekend every October. Chalktoberfest is part of a series of arts and community events held annually in Marietta.

What Is Chalktoberfest
Chalktoberfest is an annual festival that merges chalk art and craft beer in a fun, family-friendly environment. The event is free to attend for those who want to enjoy the art, live music, and vendor areas, while the Craft Beer Festival on Saturday is a ticketed tasting experience.
In 2025, the festival ran from October 11–12, with art and festivities lasting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The event was hosted on and around the historic Marietta Square, making it easy for guests to explore local shops and restaurants in between the chalk displays.
While Chalktoberfest takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Marietta also hosts First Friday events on the Square in November and December, where visitors can shop, dine, and enjoy a self-guided art walk to celebrate local culture and community vitality.

Chalk Artists Turn Pavement Into Art
More than 80 professional chalk artists from around the country took to the streets to create incredible 2D and 3D pieces directly on the pavement. The artwork ranged from colorful portraits to mind-bending illusions that seemed to leap right off the ground.
One of the weekend’s most talked-about displays came from artist Jessi Queen, who created a large-scale Taylor Swift-themed chalk mural celebrating the pop star’s newest album release. Crowds gathered throughout the weekend to watch her progress and snap photos of the finished piece.
From dragons bursting through sidewalks to ocean scenes that tricked the eye, each chalk mural added personality and creativity to Marietta’s streets. Watching the artists work live was part of the experience seeing each piece come to life layer by layer with chalk dust and dedication.
On Sunday, Chalktoberfest hosted the Community Chalk Competition, where families, schools, and individual participants could grab a set of chalk and join the fun. Artists of all ages competed for prizes while filling the streets with their own colorful creations.
Craft Beer and Wine Festival
Saturday’s Craft Beer and Wine Festival was another major highlight, offering tastings of over 120 craft beers and 25 wine varieties from local and regional breweries.
Attendees who purchased tasting tickets received a souvenir Chalktoberfest 2025 cup and could sample beverages while walking through the festival. The mix of live music, chalk art, and refreshing drinks made the atmosphere feel laid-back and welcoming for adults and families alike.
Beer enthusiasts appreciated the variety of options from local Georgia breweries to national favorites while enjoying the outdoor entertainment around Glover Park.
Live Music, Food Trucks, and Family Fun
Throughout both days, live music filled the air as local bands performed in Glover Park and across the Marietta Square. Food trucks and vendors lined the streets, serving up everything from barbecue to gourmet desserts.
For families, the Kids Chalk Zone was a hit, giving children a chance to express their creativity in their own section of the festival. Face painting, games, and interactive art activities kept younger guests entertained and engaged.
Dozens of local artisans also displayed handmade goods, turning Chalktoberfest into a weekend marketplace where visitors could browse art, jewelry, home decor, and more.
A Festival That Brings Marietta Together
What makes Chalktoberfest special isn’t just the art it’s the atmosphere. The event gives people a reason to slow down, walk the streets, talk to artists, and appreciate the creative energy that fuels Marietta.
Because chalk art is temporary, there’s something magical about watching it appear, knowing it will soon fade. That fleeting beauty is part of what makes Chalktoberfest so meaningful. Visitors return each year to see new artists, new ideas, and new bursts of color covering the same streets they walk every day.
The festival also brings a huge boost to local businesses. Restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques around the Square stay packed throughout the weekend. Visitors from other parts of Georgia and even from out of state get a chance to experience Marietta’s charm firsthand.
All proceeds from Chalktoberfest support the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, helping fund educational programs, exhibits, and art outreach for the community year-round.
